Winter?
Firstly, and very sadly we bid farewell to one of our favourite neighbours this week. 'High-Five John' (theres three Johns we know on our street), who passed away last Friday.
John / Ionis Anthopoulis was the stalward of Moir St for the past 30 odd years. We only knew him for the past six but during that time he was a great friend for the street, our boys and us.
Called 'High-five' - that was his catch phrase every time he saw Frank or Arthur. 'Eh, boys give me a high five' he would say, kneeling down to them and admiring their clothes, shoes, hair, muscles or what ever else took his fancy that day.
We saw John nearly every day and will miss him a lot. Moir St will not be the same. The photo below from Arthurs 1st birthday in 2008.
On a lighter note, it has actually been a bit wintery really. Today was supposedly going to be SUN all day, with light winds, but no. Overcast and pretty damn cold all day. But no wind.
In other adventure news, we had a great walk up to the Makara gun enplacements a couple of weekends ago in some stunning weather. Great day and boys managed the 3 hrs of walking without a fuss.
Checking the view and cheeky grins.

Its Wellington and we have seasons, so you have to expect some change from the fine and late Summer we had. In secret most Welly folks are really delighted when the weather packs it in. With a gleam in their eye, they pack away every last bit of colour and pull out the BLACKS. Yep, Wellington is now in black season and Welly folks love it.
Speaking of Welly, big news this week is that we are to have a naft "WellyWood" sign (28m x 3.5m) thanks to the short sighted and crass folks at the local airport. THanks for putting us on the map in such a classy way...

In other really exciting news, we have brought a boat. Make that me and the boys have brought a boat, despite the reservations of Libby....
It is a 'porta bote' (check on google) so folds up. We took it out today to its inaugral launch (well for us, is second hand - thanks to trademe) with Uncle Tony tony tony. Was heaps cool and look forward to many more adventures over summer months, when they finally arrive.
