Pretty Flash

The building of the shed has slowed slightly since Dougal has returned to work, however Pappy continues to put in a sterling effort and a couple of productive days were had over the long weekend despite the shitty weather.

As any fan of 'Grand Designs' (the presenter is apparently thinking woman's crumpet...even if he is gay), the big delay is always the glazing. So yes we are still waiting on the fire rated windows in order to complete the cladding which cannot been seen from these shots.

Otherwise most work has focused on sorting out barge boards, barge / hip / ridge flashing and flashing the windows and doors - all soaks up lots of time.

We are getting there however and with some fine weather (and the windows!) we should have this baby weather tight this weekend.

The best news is that we now have a cover porch area in which we can drink a beer at the end of the day even if it starts to rain!

Provided this goes ok then the plumber and sparky will be on site next week.

And a cute snap of Frank, Isla and Edie from a big bush walk we did the other day.
Ps. is another new blog below in case you missed it - Waikanae

Chasing the sun

Interesting fact (according to yesterday's paper): Wellington has not had a dry weekend since mid-November. This is summer, people!

One day of sun and we're inside for some reason... This is a before shot of the boys.
How grown up is Arf getting, eh?

Maybe not.
Shadow Arf and Shadow Dad

Arf's favourite ensemble. I can never remember if he's Superman or Batman or if Frank is...

King Arthur of the Cardboard Castle (made into a modern car parking building, surprise surprise)

Hair cuts!!!

"I am four in March. I want a Kiwi party. Flynn can come."
(Just giving you fair warning, Karen!)

Emma, Zoe and Arf are instructed to watch Frank's famous Spin Jumps. They're a treat!
So as I was saying, no sun and a wedding had us heading up to Waikanae for a few days. There was some sun but we weirdly don't have any photographic evidence of it. We swam, collected and scoffed pipis, earned icecreams after long walks along the beach, made sandcastles and took over the playground. It was the best.
Gearing up for the World Cup's all weather conditions.
Give me a cuddle, I'm freezing!!!

Pappy and Tigerrrr.

Bed time stories with G'Marg.

The Line up.

Frank's turn to be king of the castle.
Other than that, the man cave is coming along splendidly despite rain and wind and wind and rain. It should be water tight by next weekend. I'm sure Dougal will update you in more detail :)
Back to kindy on Thursday - yay!

its getting there...

More on the man cave for those bloke(s) out there - (maybe 'bloke' or maybe 'blokes' - not too sure how many read this really...funny word though isn't it when you say it out loud a few times - 'bloke bloke blokes' - very blokey word really which I suppose is appropriate after all. Anyway...).

Being Blokes - meself, Pa and Muzz decided to warp up the shed - it being Xmas and all.

It looked real pretty too, until some wind ripped half of the roofing paper off. I guess that happens at Xmas - espcially in Wellington where we have had some ridiculously windy weather...Not much fun clabbering around trying to stick it back down again in the rain though.
Still, the wind did not slow us in our hunt for the non-existant storm water main...or making a huge hole to connect up the sewer main.

Which turned the back yard into the Mt Vic version of the Somme...
Last couple of days have been highly productive with Pappy and Dougal slapping up the roof and half the cladding (the easy sides) and... Putting on the veranda framing and the WINDOWS!!!
So starting to look like a Real Shed now.
In the mean time Libby, Frank and Arf are being entertained by each other, the Grandies (yay for Grandies!) and of course cute man Tiger.
Tiger is now banned from our room at night after his mid-night missions to attack feet, wrestle the pot plant, do monster smelly poos (in his dirt box - which I add is not in our room, but we can still smell it and he then spends the next 5 minutes stratching around in the stones) and sleep on pillows / faces.
He is very cute though.
