More please

As Frank would say, more?! So some more of the wee man from his third day. Mainly spent sleeping with the occasional bout of "FEED MEEEEEEEE!!!! NOOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!"

Generally very peaceful dude though, quite content to chill. Got his check up from the baby doctor and all seems fine. He has one slightly dodgey kidney though which needs to be ultrasounded before we go home on Monday so fingers crossed until then.

Sorry, not much in the way of action shots as he is not really doing too much exciting at the mo'.

Day Two

Sleeping, er like a baby funnily enough

Mum and Arthur doing good with some sleep, feeds and lots of hugs.

This will be quick as Frank needing some Dad time in the background "I stuck, I stuck..."

But more photos for the punters, thanks for all the well wishes and if you are in the hood, Libby is up to visitors. Arthur and Frank got on just fine at first meeting too, Frank even gave his wee brother a kiss although I am not sure what he secretly whispered into his ear at the same time...

Give him to me! G'Marg and Frank tussle over hugging rights.

No cameras please...

ARRIVAL!!!!

At last he's here. And well worth the wait.

Arthur Donald List

A whopper at 9lb 6 ounce (thats 4.26kg to those living in the modern world). Dark hairy hair and cute as can be (for those who entered the sweepstake, while a few picked the 27th, no noe really got close on any other front).

Was looking like another few days wait, but the visit to the mid-wife today at the hospital turned into a quick consultation of the specialist who declared that c-section was the way to go for us. Luckily there was a gap in the diary so we managed to get in today (which all seemed a bit surreal and more like making a dentist appointment that birthing a child) and hey presto, there he is!

At that size it is no wonder that he had to be a caesarian.

Judge for yourself, but he looks pretty similar to Frank at this point, so bound to be a very handsome young fella.

Mum and young Arthur both doing just fine though and been left for a well deserved snooze tonight while Dad has a well deserved beer, uploads some photos and sends a couple of texts.

More here to follow in next few days!!

No news...

Nup, no news on Day 4 of being overdue. Had a scan yesterday and they predicted a HUGE baby (try 10 lb 10 for size). We think this is ridiculous, as does the midwife, as I'm able to walk and can even cut my own toenails BUT it does mean we need to see a specialist to discuss the birth plan (yet again. We were offered an elective caesar at 39 weeks and declined!). So no idea when this will be or if labour will start before hand or anything else, basically!

Friends have been fantastic, coming around to 'distract' Frank and I. Thank you. School holidays mean all our usual haunts are crazily busy and we're better off staying close to home anyway. Dougal is off work from tomorrow (YAY!!!!!!).

It sounds like it's hailing! A cold day, that's for sure.

I started compiling a list of Frank's words the other day but it's already out of date.

Frank’s Words

At 18 months, Frank a lot to say and is starting to put words together e.g. ‘Car Mum please’. Some words come and go but these are his most common ones. He’s also really good at copying what other people say.
Dog, pig, bear, sore, washing, oh no, oh dear, I’m fine, okay?, keys, door, shut, yes, it’s broken, fix it, car, weeoweeo (siren), please, no, Dad, stuck, ow, ta, thank you, noise, hello, beep, hot, bottle, boots on, shoes, sock, flower, truck, crane, tractor, digger, ‘copter, plane, leaf, Mum, bye, see ya, bird, tree, cat, dog, hippo, huge, fat, up high, flag, porridge, sandwich, biscuit, cracker, apple, tea, yoghurt, Simpsons, nappy, happy, fun, wow, yay, jump, dance, go, jacket, hat, head, nose, tummy, bum, book, knee, hand, toe, push, block, high chair, push chair, fish, (ba)nana, milk, bottle, water, rugby, ball, kick, catch, throw, more, poohs, tired, nigh’ night, towel, shower, baby, trousers, it’s dark, light, bus, bike, brush, neck, teeth, penguin, sore finger, photo…

Congratulations to Mel and Andy who had baby Rose last Thursday! We had the same due date, haha.

Overdue, surprise surprise...

Let him eat cake - Edie's first birthday last weekend

Too much cake?

Chilling in The Botanical Gardens

Fair enough comment from Trevor that there are devoted fans checking in daily to see what's happening babywise and we haven't even been nice enough to update the blog. Not that we've been doing much.

The due date has now come and gone (22 September) so that rules many of you out of the sweepstake - all those optomists who, like us, hoped this baby would be punctual at the very least. The baby will be induced after ten days if no sign - so that's 2 Oct. There WILL be a baby in the next week and a bit!

We managed to keep busy last week by catching up with friends, watching The Bucket Fountain while we ate our lunch, playing at various playgrounds (the slides are definitely Frank and Dad's favourites but a tad uncomfortable for Mum), soaking up the sun in the backyard and even playing with the hose.

This weekend Dave has been in town (a friend from the UK who now lives in New York) so we've been showing off Wellington which has been summery until today. A really cool weekend but we were hoping Dougal wouldn't have to go to work tomorrow - he's going to have to iron a shirt or five...

Anyway, promise to let you know and thank you for all the supportive texts, emails, phone calls and visits. Bring it on!!!!

The concept of time

All grown up

Feeding time with Edie (who turns one this week) and Isla

Biscuit?

I'm not a baby anymore.

Yes, Time. It's a funny old thing. Patience, even funnier. Is this baby going to be a Virgo or a Libra? Will s/he arrive today or do we have to wait until the start of October? Yep, there's possibly/probably plenty of time for you to still enter the sweepstake - big prizes to be won...

Day Care for Frank ended last week so he's eager for outings. Last night he went and stayed with G'Marg and Pappy and isn't back yet (hopefully he didn't keep them awake and remembered to clean his teeth). Libby and Dougal didn't know what to do with themselves, peeping in at his empty room and still waking up at the usual time. He's so grown up!

We're trying hard to focus on NOW and enjoy our precious time as a family of three - but we can't wait to meet the baby and conversation keeps coming back to 'when'!!!!
